Evita lives on here on the widest avenue in the world.
BsAs is an interesting town, not as big as you think in the tourist zone, and as I said Italians in French buildings who happen to speak Spanish... the cars are all European, I saw 2 Hondas and 1 Kia in 2 days (no Japanese cars) a couple of jeeps and some low end Chevrolets.... and they do love to stuff their faces with food..
Jugglers at street crossings work for tips, pretty cool really compared to what we get at home!
And I have noticed that the tall apartment buildings are not just tall, but very thin... no idea why...
Lunch today was empanada, the local pie really, as ever meat filled, and a tomato and onion salad - it was great!
This is the view from my B&B, churches and roof gardens. The B&B has lots of nice chatty people, one American, some Brazilians couples... all speak great English! Lucky for me!
Walking around has been very easy, considering I am staying on the rougher side of town, on the way back from Brazil I will be staying further North in Recoleta. So I didn't go into those areas yet..., I stayed around the core and San telmo, where the B&B is.
Puerto Madero is the old port area, now redeveloped with apartments and office blocks, all very new, apparently super expensive to boot.
This one tower has a glass lobby at the top.
Again, so thin..
Body parts roasting are an all too familiar thing, it's like a biology class!
below in plaza Canada - guess why!
Falklands memorial below.
Ok so the pic below is a little wonky...but the British clock tower has been renamed, oddly though the markings as a gift from the UK are left in tact...
Blogger is doing weird things again - bridge below was further up, this is in Puerto Madero, the bridge is supposed to represent the leaning of the woman in a Tango...
San Martin, one of the fathers of the Argentine Republic is below, the statue noteworthy because all the weight is on the horses' two hind legs...
Statue below is the doubter - I kind of like that one as it is me to a tee!
Below is the national bank! Pesos!
One the way back to the hotel there was a political demonstration and police, at first I thought the smoke was from incendiary devices or something, but it was a big BBQ!
These cobble stones, yesterday pedalling the bike on these was hard on the rump!
Below is Plaza Dorrego - a market filled Milonga square (Milongas are Tango dance halls/bars) - busy little square with music playing all day long.
The restaurant below is where I ate last night...
Not sure I would eat here at all... they use the dollar sign for pesos, so 4.6 pesos to one US$ the sign below doesn't seem so bad!
And that was day 2, it's early to bed relatively, because tomorrow I have to leave at 2:30am :( The flight time keeps moving forward.. sadly. Oh well Easter Island tomorrow! Back to BsAs in a week or so!
Adios!
